Tuition & Financial Aid FAQs
What is the tuition for the MEd in MESA online program and the ERM online certificate program?
Online programs are assessed UIC e-Tuition, which is a per credit hour tuition rate. See the Tuition & Financial Aid page of this Web site for more information.
NOTE: Tuition is subject to change without notice any time prior to the first day of instruction.
Are there additional costs associated with the MEd in MESA online program and the ERM online certificate program?
Students will be responsible for purchasing the books associated with each course. Students will also be required to purchase a statistical software package (e.g., SPSS Graduate Pack) and other software required by instructors. UIC will attempt to use student/trial versions of software whenever possible.
Note: Students may buy international versions of the course books. However, UIC is not responsible for any translation errors that may impact performance, and all assignments must be submitted in English.
Is financial aid available for the MEd in MESA online program?
The MEd in MESA online program itself does not offer financial aid. Information regarding types of aid from the College and University can be obtained from the UIC College of Education’s Financial Aid Web page, the UIC Graduate College and the UIC Office of Special Scholarship Programs.
Students enrolled in the MEd in MESA online program may also be eligible for federal financial aid. For degree-seeking students to be considered, a current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be on file. In addition, you must be enrolled at least part-time (registered for five credit hours) and maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by the UIC Financial Aid Office.
For more information about financial aid, please contact the UIC Office of Student Financial Aid directly.
NOTE: Students taking courses as non-degree are not eligible for federal financial aid.
Is financial aid available for the ERM online certificate program?
No. As a graduate certificate program, the ERM online certificate program does not result in a degree; therefore, financial aid is not offered for this program. However, certificate students may wish to look into alternative loans, also known as private loans. These are educational loans offered through a bank or other financial lender. Visit the UIC Office of Student Financial Aid Alternative Loan Web page for more information.
Can I apply Veterans Benefits to the MEd in MESA online program or the ERM online certificate program?
You may be able to apply Veterans Benefits to these programs. The first step would be to verify your eligibility for Veterans Benefits. Visit the GI Bill Web page on the US Department of Veterans Affairs Web site to begin the process. Once you have verified your eligibility for benefits, please contact Eric Armstrong, Assistant Director of UIC Student Veteran Affairs, at (312) 996-1408 or firstname.lastname@example.org for information about the next steps.
